Skipton chocolate entrepreneur launches £12k crowdfunding campaign

A Skipton-based chocolate entrepreneur has launched a £12k crowdfunding campaign to enable her to produce allergy-free chocolate.

Prudence Would, who founded chocolate firm Ayni in June, started the campaign to fund better and more advanced equipment and marketing for her allergy-free chocolate.

Pru is in the process of making up her first wholesale order, and attending chocolate fairs including the Allergy and Free From Show North, in Liverpool in October, and the Country Living Christmas fair in Harrogate in November.

The crowdfunding campaign will finance the purchase of ‘conch’ which will create uber smooth chocolate, coming in at around £6,000, a tempering machine, attendance at the chocolate fairs, as well as ingredients, packaging and leaflets.

The Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign started on August 19 and with 34 days left, there’s still a way to go.

Pru said: “Allergy sufferers have very limited choices when it comes to the delicious world of chocolate.

“Ayni wants to change that by offering innovative bars, and sumptuous filled chocolates that delight the tastebuds, but don’t leave you feeling like you’ve been hit by a bus!

“Not only are my chocolates delicious, and free from all of the major allergens, they are also free from refined sugar, use organic ingredients where ever possible, and being made from raw chocolate, retain all the incredible nutrients that made ‘The Food of The Gods’ in South America.

“I chose crowdfunding because knowing that real people are interested in my chocolates, and want to help me bring them to the world because they share my passion, is incredibly motivating.

“Crowdfunding gives people, with large or small budgets, the chance to get involved in creating great things, and I think that’s a really empowering thing. I know I’ve loved knowing I’ve made a difference when I’ve supported crowdfunders, they can be life changing!”
