Konnectifi to Provide Free Outdoor WiFi for Tour of Britain

Tour of Britain has announced it will be providing free WiFi to spectators at the finishing stages of each race.

Sweetspot, the official organisers of the Tour, have selected Konnectifi as the official provider.

Alastair Grant of Sweetspot has said: “We are delighted to be working with Konnectifi to bring WiFi to the Tour. It’s never been done before in this capacity and we have a few surprises on the day to encourage people to share their thoughts and photos via the free WiFi.”

Robin Price, Managing Director of Konnectifi, added: “This is very exciting for British sport – never before have people been so able to ‘connect’ with an outdoor event on this scale. Our aim is to not only give everyone an excellent WiFi service, but to encourage more interaction with the event on the day.”

Konnectifi will be providing the free WiFi on site at each of the finishing stages of the Tour, and spectators can log in via their preferred social media account to use the internet and share photos they take on the day.

Though delivering WiFi in outdoor spaces such as the Tour has been considered challenging in the past, the innovative new Social WiFi technology that Konnectifi can offer has changed that, bringing a new level of involvement to outdoor events.

Konnectifi hope to harness the power of sharing on social media to help bring more people across the UK and the rest of the world closer to the sport, and encourage them to actively take part in cycling.

If you’re heading to watch the Tour of Britain next month, don’t forget to log on and spread the word using Konnectifi’s Social WiFi systems using the hashtag #GetKonnected!
