Leeds architects Brewster Bye win £68 million worth of contracts

Leeds architecture practice Brewster Bye has won contracts totalling almost £68million in the last 12 months,

The firm secured the commission of Roman House and St Leonards Place, two substantial refurbishments in York which topped off a successful year.

Headingley-based Brewster Bye was established 22 years ago successfully pitched for a wide range of work competitively tendering to secure contracts with residential property developers and housing associations to deliver over 320 homes.

The architects have also won a contract to design a £10.5 million scheme that includes 47 extra care flats, 30 dementia rooms and a day center in Bingley for Abbeyfield Ilkley Limited.

Other recent contract wins include the Flaxby Gatehouse Offices in Harrogate for Skelwith Developments. Director Chris Austin explains: “Having designed the exciting new £100 million Country Resort, The Flaxby, which is located between York and Harrogate, this latest project will see the creation of a new and fitting entrance to the exclusive Flaxby Country Resort.”

Brewster Bye has also won the contract to design 35 contemporary eco lodges, five woodland retreats and 26 traditional holiday cottages on the Raithwaite Estate in Sandsend.

Chris adds: “Although the lodges are dynamic and contemporary in style, they have been designed to integrate into their natural environment.

“They include the latest sustainable technology to create fantastic luxury accommodation.” The first nine lodges are now on site and due for completion in the Autumn.

Managing director Keith Brewster said: “These contract wins span several industry sectors and it’s incredibly encouraging to see such renewed levels of development in the region.

“The housing schemes, for both public and private developers, will help to deliver much needed new homes – some new build and others which will be converted from old hospitals and office buildings.

“The Flaxby and Raithwaite projects are very high-profile, architecturally pleasing developments that will no doubt become renowned for their unique, appealing design and we are proud to be associated with both of them.”
