Newbiggin-by-the-Sea to receive £1 million investment for further regeneration
Arch, the Northumberland Development Company, in partnership with Northumberland County Council is to develop a new landmark building in Newbiggin-by-the-sea.
The building will house the Council’s Library Services, public conveniences, Town Council office and residential apartments.
Arch will invest £1m to develop the site with a contribution from Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Town Council to secure the public conveniences and provide a small office.
The site is located on Front Street, currently occupied by the Railway Inn and New Dolphin Public Houses.
Grant Davey, leader of Northumberland County Council said: “This building is an exciting development which will benefit Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. The range of facilities proposed in the new building closely reflect what local people told us they wanted and house superb new services including a new library, providing a modern learning and reading environment for local people. There has been a real revival in Newbiggin in the past few years, and we see the new development as completing the picture”.
