Record fundraising target in sight for Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2014

Businesses from across the region are being urged to show their support for one of the biggest fundraising events of the year.

Organisers of the St. James’s Place Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards 2014 in association with Arrow Cars believe that the event is on track to beat last year’s total and raise more than £60,000 for local good causes.

But businesses who want to get involved will have to hurry – tables for the 700-strong event on October 10 are selling out fast.

The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards, which aim to support and recognise disadvantaged and disabled young people under the age of 18, are taking place at New Dock Hall at The Royal Armouries in Leeds.

Headline sponsors are St James’s Place Wealth Management and Arrow Cars, along with main sponsors Millhouse Furniture and Interiors, law firm Blacks, Reward, ABV Licensed Trade Wholesalers and Turn Key.

Having supported the event for the last three years, Leeds-based finance provider Reward is delighted to be backing the initiative again in 2014.

Dave Jones, partner at Reward, said the awards were a vital way to recognise inspirational young talent and to help worthy causes.

Mr Jones said: “Reward is absolutely delighted to be supporting these awards again in 2014. Over the years we have sponsored the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards we have been truly humbled by the achievements of the many truly inspirational young people who have been recognised for their efforts.

“These awards are a great way to recognise these amazing people who often achieve fantastic things in the face of adversity.”

Special guest at the ceremony will be Jonathan Ansell, one of the UK’s most admired young tenors, who has sold more than two million albums.

This year, organisers have been touring the Yorkshire region in the run-up to the event carrying a nominations box so people can put deserving youngsters forward.

Rosemary Hepburn, who helps to organise the event, added: “We are once again delighted by the response from the business community to these awards, which have become a highlight of the Yorkshire events calendar.

“Tables for the 2014 awards dinner are selling out fast so we would urge any business that wants to attend to book their place, or sponsor a table and receive 10 dinner tickets, before it is too late.”
