Official Supplier EventServ plays its park in Scotland’s biggest ever cultural and sporting event

EventServ, a Glasgow-based company which provides infrastructure solutions to some of the UK’s leading promoters and event management companies, has today announced it was an official event services provider for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The contract involved EventServ providing performance stages, crowd barriers, public access staircases, containment bridges, video scoreboard structures, timber framing and camera towers across a wide range of Games sites and venues, including the Athletes’ Village.

The company provided end-to-end services for the Games and has extensive experience in event support services for major Scottish events including T in the Park, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Wickerman Festival and more recently securing contracts with Glasgow Life and IRN-BRU.

Paul Griffin, managing director, at EventServ explains the importance of this contract for EventServ: “Our strategy was to get fully involved in Glasgow 2014. We did some initial promotional work a year before the event which led to more contracts before we were ultimately awarded the contract for the Games.

“The success of the Commonwealth Games will not just be measured by medals, hosting such a major sporting event as this showcases Glasgow and Scotland as a world leading event destination. Global attention was on Scotland during the Games and we are proud to be a part of its success.”

Emily Huddart, EventServ development and support manager, was one member of the team who relocated to Glasgow for the Games, “Working closely with the Glasgow 2014 team enabled greater flexibility in meeting their requirements as the project evolved. Every event comes with its own set of challenges and it is our job to make sure that the event set-up occurs seamlessly and without incident.

“The Games had its own logistical, security and time scale challenges and was a very exciting project to be involved with.”
