Selby accountants expand with new recruits and premises

Selby-based accountants and business advisers JWPCreers LLP have expanded with new appointments and a move into additional premises.

New client wins led the firm to take on eight new fee earners, including five trainees and one university placement, and expand into new 1,502 sq ft offices at Genesis 4 next to its Genesis 5 base in Church Lane, Heslington, York.

JWPCreers Corporate Finance Team, led by partner, Tony Farmer, and business development manager, Sue Espiner, have moved into the new offices.

Three specialist appointments are: auditor, Charles Meacher; tax specialist, Michael Brumby and Lynsey Markinson who joins the payroll department.

The trainees are: Kate Thompson who joins the Charities Team; Matthew Royal who joins the Landed Estates Team; Kieran Langham and Jay Curry, who join the Audit and Accounts Team and Leah Langford who is starting a one-year academic intern placement in the Audit and Accounts team from University of York where she is in her second year of a accounting, business finance and management degree.

JWPCreers LLP managing partner, Nigel Clemit, says: “Several new clients and a general increase in workload due to growing confidence in the economic upturn have enabled us to enhance client service with these appointments.

“We are delighted to have appointed five trainees because, as a long-established North Yorkshire business we like to play our part in addressing youth unemployment by creating jobs for young people. Where possible, we develop our staff and promote them through the firm.

“We are also pleased to offer Leah Langford an academic internship, as a way for us to support the university to train undergraduates and give them exposure to the business world.”

JWPCreers, which has offices in York and Selby, can trace its roots back to 1908. The firm now has eight partners and 80 staff and operates throughout the north.
