Businesses to pitch to investors at Venturefest North East

Entrepreneurs have the chance to apply to pitch their business, products or ideas to funders at the region’s innovation conference, Venturefest North East, this October.

The free one-day conference which takes place on 21st October at the Hilton NewcastleGateshead, will offer pitching opportunities for up to 50 businesses looking to raise finance.

Working together with GrowthAccelerator, Venturefest North East has brought together 25 funders representing all parts of the funding ladder from venture capital fund managers and angel investors, to crowdfunding platforms and business support organisations.

The funders will be interested in investing in innovative businesses with strong potential and will support a broad range of businesses, from social finance to tech startups, and the creative sector to manufacturing.

Simon Green, head of business support at Newcastle Science City said: “The North East of England has a wide range of funding sources for innovative businesses, from £1,000 grants through to multi-million pound loan and investment funds.

“But raising finance isn’t easy. Working with GrowthAccelerator, we wanted to provide a unique opportunity for businesses to pitch to a number of different funders to help take their ideas to the next stage.”

Businesses will need to submit an application to pitch at the conference where successful applicants will be given the chance to meet with all 25 funders to present their case.

Businesses interested in applying to pitch should email: support@newcastlesciencecity.com with a brief description of their business and management structure, how much funding they are looking to raise, and what the funding is required for.

To date, GrowthAccelerator have supported clients in raising over £103 million to fund their growth ambitions. Funding experts from GrowthAccelerator will review applications and work out the best funders to introduce. There will also be a free pitching workshop before the event to help businesses refine their presentations.

Venturefest North East is organised by Newcastle Science City in conjunction with the Government’s innovation agency, Innovate UK, with support from the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.
