Housebuilder announces charity partnership

A leading housebuilder in Wales today selected the RNLI to be its charity partner for the next year and set its sights on raising over £5,000 to support its local services.

Persimmon Homes West Wales has announced a busy programme of charity activities to raise vital funds for the charity which provides a 24-hour on-call lifeboat search and rescue service across Wales.

The RNLI also offers a seasonal lifeguard safety service on 32 of Wales’ busiest beaches throughout the summer months, including Aberavon in Neath and Port Talbot.

Persimmon Homes West Wales, which has its head office located in Swansea, will raise funds for the RNLI through collections and events organised at their housing developments across West Wales.

Earlier this year the housebuilder revealed plans to build 450 new homes in Pembrokeshire where there is a considerable housing shortage – developments are located in Bush Hill near Pembroke, Lamphey and Haverfordwest. An exciting new development in Birchgrove, Swansea will also open soon to provide a much-needed boost to the Welsh housing market.

Persimmon’s sales director, Sharon Robinson, said: “We’re delighted to announce RNLI as our chosen charity of the year and we are planning to raise a considerable amount of money for this very worthy cause in the coming months.

“We have 15 developments across West Wales and this provides us with plenty of locations to collect money and organise fundraising activities for the charity.

“We’ve got an extremely busy year ahead here at Persimmon Homes West Wales, but we’ll make sure we make time to raise money for the charity that provides such a vital service for the people of Wales.”

Jen Abell, community fundraising manager at RNLI, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for choosing us to be their charity of the year – it sounds like they have a great programme of events planned and we’re very much looking forward to seeing their fundraising efforts.

“With our lifeboats, lifeguards, safety advice and flood rescue, we are committed to saving lives in Wales and we rely entirely on donations from the public and businesses like Persimmon to fund these vital services.”
