Third phase of £100 million University of York scheme complete

The University of York has this week opened Constantine College, the third phase of accommodation and facilities totalling some 2000 student beds following £100 million of investment.

The university has partnered with Evans Property Group in the scheme to build three new Colleges at its Heslington East campus.

The new BREEAM Excellent rated, £36 million Constantine College will accommodate 621 students and tutors over eight blocks.

Evans Property Group on behalf of the JV finished work ahead of schedule to enable tutors to move into Constantine College this weekend. The building will be fully occupied by the end of this month.

Constantine College is the third college at the 161 acre Heslington East campus extension following construction of Goodricke College in 2009 and Langwith College, which the JV completed in 2012.

The scheme was partly funded under a long-term funding facility with Aviva Commercial Finance Ltd.

The development is part of the University’s plans to double its physical size through a £750m campus extension on Heslington East.
