Gala celebrate National Biker’s Day

In celebration of National Biker’s Day, local company Gala Tent Ltd have swapped their cars for bikes in a bid to achieve a healthier lifestyle and reduce their carbon footprint. Using a local government funded scheme, participants can loan a bike for four weeks, benefit from free support sessions to learn about route finding and learn how to look after their bike at free Dr Bike sessions. The scheme is run by Inmotion! and CycleExperience, who are funded by local authorities around South Yorkshire. The schemes offer free trials to try out cycling, as well as training courses and road safety lessons.

Rebecca Parkin, Graphic Designer at the marquee and gazebo manufacturing company, said “We’re really pleased to be taking part in the fantastic scheme by CycleExperience and InMotion. After the excitement of the Tour de Yorkshire, it’s made a lot of us consider taking up cycling, especially as we’re so close to the Transpennine Trail”.

Gala Tent seems to have the bug for cycling activities, as they have recently printed a full gazebo for the Tickhill Velo Grand Prix, a cycling club based in the outskirts of Doncaster, who hold their own races and daily cycle groups.

The Marquee manufacturers also printed many gazebos for the Tour de Yorkshire and donated a giant Grand Depart Tshirt made out of their marquee material free of charge for a temporary campsite on Jawbone Hill in Oughtibridge. Chris Jackson of Greenheadfields.co.uk approached Gala Tent and asked if they would donate a large piece of material in the shape of a Tshirt to put up on the field next to the route, of which they were happy to oblige. With a 350m field facing onto the race’s route, Jawbone Hill was listed in Sky Sports’ top ten places to watch the event.

That’s not all, Gala Tent have also become official sponsors of the new Trials Biking park that has opened up at Dexx Skatepark in Wath upon Dearne. MD Jason Mace, who is always on the lookout for local projects to get behind, has been happy to give structures to the project to use for their outside park and even took a turn around the skatepark on his latest visit. With the biking bug, Gala Tent are enjoying celebrating National Biker’s Day.
