Expansion at Johnson Tucker

North east- based property consultants and managers, Johnson Tucker, has expanded its range of services with what is believed to be a unique venture in the region, announcing the launch of its own in-house property maintenance division.

Since launching in 2006, Johnson Tucker’s management portfolio has grown significantly with the company acting on behalf of a diverse client base managing a number of properties from Berwick to Teesside.

This latest development is in direct response to the continued growth in demand from Johnson Tuckers’ property management clients.

According to Gary Robinson, associate partner, who heads up the consultancy’s property management service, it was becoming increasingly difficult to find contractors who could respond quickly to deal with issues such as blocked drains, a leaking flat roof, broken or rotten windows or other minor works. Therefore, to give greater control over this area of the business, the decision was taken to launch the new division.

In order to preserve the value of their assets and maintain good relationships with their tenants, landlords, especially those with multiple properties, need to regularly assess the condition of their property portfolio for deterioration not only from the impact of wear and tear from occupiers but also damage caused by climatic conditions.

Therefore, a locally administered, tailored management solution significantly reduces the risk of properties falling into a poor state of repair, thereby making them difficult to let.

To support the development of this service Johnson Tucker has also appointed Mark Smith, who formerly worked for Matfen Estates and is a joiner by trade, to provide maintenance support. Speaking about the launch of the new service Mr Robinson said:

“To add to the high level of management services clients already receive we took the initiative to introduce an in-house property maintenance service. In so doing, we avoid small problems becoming major issues and can usually respond within hours if a repair is needed. Offering a wholly transparent way of working, it also allows for greater control over repair costs on a client’s behalf.

“Mark brings with him a wealth of experience in property repairs and I am delighted that he has joined the team. Our management clients really benefit from having happy tenants.”
