Keycare team to swap sweet dreams for cold pavements in charity sleep out

A team of Keycare employees will exchange their warm beds for the cold outdoors, as they take part in a rough sleeping charity fundraiser on September 25.

The annual event, organised by the Leeds based charity Simon On The Streets, aims to demonstrate the very real challenges that the homeless face on a daily basis and to raise much needed funds for the charity, which operates across Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford and supports people who are sleeping rough.

Rachel Taylor, daughter of Keycare’s late founder Geoffrey Parker, is among Keycare’s team of five who will be among hundreds of businesses and individuals at The Royal Armouries Tiltyard from 9.30pm onwards for ‘The Rough Sleep’. Rachel, a director and shareholder of Keycare and Chairman of PTF Locket - a company which manages the families’ business interests and charitable contributions - says that participating in the event is important because it is aligned with Keycare’s deep-rooted ethos of putting something back into its local communities.

Rachel commented: “We have all seen people living rough on the streets, but I think too often we don’t actually see them. We walk past, oblivious to what it really means to be homeless. Having the opportunity to see, hear and experience at first-hand what this involves, will undoubtedly bring this issue home to everyone who takes part and those who support it through fundraising.”

Helen Beachell, general manager at Simon on The Streets said: “We are delighted to have the support of Keycare at this event. As we try and raise our profile across West Yorkshire, there is a real value to us being in partnership with a Bradford based company such as Keycare.”

Keycare - which recovers and replaces lost or stolen keys for customers of household names and blue chip organisations - has a long history of raising money for worthwhile causes. Past beneficiaries have included Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Martin House Hospice in Boston Spa.
