Liverpool FC hope to add 8,500 seats to Anfield

Liverpool FC has had its planning request for the extension of Anfield stadium by 8,500 seats recommended for approval by the planners.

According to The Independant, the club are hoping to start the project at the end of this year, taking the stadium’s capacity up to 54,000.

The proposal, which will be decided on 23rd September, will cost around £150 million and take just under two years to complete.

According to the Liverpool Echo, a memorial garden dedicated to the Hillbrough disaster victims is also part of the planned proposal.

In addition, the Echo reports that the stand will not fully close but that two large cranes will help lift steel girders into place.
