Home is where the art is
GRADUATE Amy Ward is hoping that images of iconic North East landmarks will raise cash to help disadvantaged young people turn their lives around.
Amy, who works for Barratt Homes North East, has teamed up with local photographer Simon Rogers and students from Newcastle University to produce the ‘Home’ artwork initiative, a collection of photographs and pieces of art.
The limited edition prints of the Angel of the North, Durham Cathedral, Penshaw Monument, St Mary’s Lighthouse and the Tyne Bridge are on sale to raise money for The Prince’s Trust charity.
The prints are going on display this weekend (20 / 21 September) at the housebuilder’s Teal Park Farm development in Washington, which is overlooked by Penshaw Monument.
Visitors can enter a prize draw to win a pair of framed prints.
Amy said: “We thought it would be a good way to support a great charity and local talent at the same time.
“Simon and the four students – Chloe Burke, Eve Kershaw, Helene Pans and Ginny Parry – have produced some amazing work.
“There is a photograph and painting of each landmark. They are designed to complement each other, but can be bought separately. Prices start from £15.00 and 100 per cent of net profits will be going to charity.”
Amy is in a team of Barratt graduates around the UK, who are aiming to raise £10,000 in support of The Prince’s Trust’s Million Makers Challenge.
Million Makers is a national competition, challenging teams of employees and university students to raise £1million to help disadvantaged young people to turn their lives around by developing the skills and confidence to move into a job, education, training or self-employment.
Teal Park Farm is open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Brochures and order forms can also be obtained at Barratt developments around the North East or from amy.f.ward@barratthomes.co.uk
