Simply Be opens London flagship store

Specialist plus-size retailer Simply Be has opened a flagship store in London today, just hours after the end of London Fashion week.

The £1 million, three-storey London flagship will also be home to the men’s fashion brand Jacamo brands and will stock women’s clothes in sizes 10 to 32 and menswear in small to 5XL.

Former England cricket captain Andrew Flintoff and plus-size model Candice Huffine hosted the opening.

Flintoff has partners with Jacamo to launch his own clothing range. The store also stocks designer brands such as Penguin, Voi jeans and Lambretta.

Angela Spindler, chief executive of the Manchester-based N Brown retail group which owns the brands, told the Evening Standard: “We get excellent feedback from people who shop in our stores.

“When we open on a high street it means larger people can go shopping and not be made to feel uncomfortable. They feel the industry has not always been sympathetic to them in the past.”

“One of the reasons large customers feel alienated and ignored by the fashion industry is that it has not designed clothes for them that are fashionable and enjoyable to wear.”
