Absolute Software Provides Extended Support for iOS 8 and Apple Devices
Absolute Manage Customers Can Rely on Zero Day Support for a Seamless Transition to iOS 8
Vancouver, Canada: September 22, 2014 – Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the industry standard for persistent endpoint security and management solutions for computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, today announced full support for iOS 8 with the release of Absolute Manage® 6.6.
The latest release of Absolute Manage provides customers with an automated MDM enrollment process for Mac computers, allowing IT to quickly provision these devices regardless if they are owned by the company or the employee. This capability will allow enterprise IT to automate what is traditionally a very time-consuming process. Using Absolute Manage, customers can apply a consistent security standard for Mac devices across the enterprise.
“Many MDM vendors currently provide MDM enrollment for Mac computers,” said Geoff Haydon, CEO at Absolute Software. “But these vendors specialize in smartphone infrastructure, not computers – and you can’t treat a Mac like it’s a smartphone. The data and other information on a Mac require computer-class security and management. This is what our customers expect and this is what we deliver. With Absolute Manage, the MDM enrollment process can install a full software agent onto a Mac allowing our customers to apply enterprise level security to these devices.”
This release also extends Absolute’s zero-day support for iOS 8 with enhanced support for all new iOS 8 MDM features.
“Our customers rely on a seamless approach to platform upgrades, especially with a user favourite such as iOS,” stated Geoff Haydon. “And given that we serve 21 of the top 25 largest K12 school districts in the US, we already know how pleased our education customers will be with the ability to manage Apple Apps across iOS and Mac devices. The IT efficiencies this will deliver will be meaningful.”
Availability
Absolute Manage 6.6 is available today. This release also includes support for all of the features available from Apple for iOS 8 including the implementation of feature requests such as remotely setting device name, SMIME for email, the ability to restrict users from factory resetting a device, and Mobile Content Management capabilities.
