Two top young businessmen share their success secrets at Growing Your Own Business Conference
Two of Britain’s top young entrepreneurs will be sharing the secrets of their remarkable business acumen and success with packed audiences at the Growing Your Own Business Conference, taking place on 3 & 4 October at the NEC, Birmingham within The National Franchise Exhibition.
Neil Clough, star of the BBC’s The Apprentice, and Birmingham entrepreneur Jamie Dunn, who was named in the Top 20 Young People in The World, will be delivering the keynote speeches at this prestigious event.
Neil Clough, who featured in The Apprentice in 2013, now runs his own business, NWC Sales Consultancy & Training, in Hale, Cheshire. NWC Consultancy specialises in sales growth and offers bespoke consultancy and training programmes. Neil is also a Director of mobile advertising app My Travel Pal who will be exhibiting.
His inspiring talk, titled ‘Sales and motivation with Neil Clough’ will provide insight from his experience of reaching the final five in Britain’s most popular entrepreneurial television show. He will also explain how he finds the silver lining in every cloud, no matter how difficult or demanding the situation may be.
Neil received high praise from Lord Sugar’s aides during the TV show. They praised him for coming a long way from being the ‘backseat driver’ at the start of the series to becoming confident in the boardroom. He was praised by Nick Hewer as: “truly a man to put your money on”.
Determined to become an entrepreneur, Neil left the security of employment to focus on his own path to the top. He also realised that he needed to base his business on what he knew best which was sales and property. With more than 15 years of sales experience, this was a natural progression.
Neil is currently working with a number of start-up businesses, enjoying the pace, the pressure and the unique challenges and opportunities that each business brings.
Jamie Dunn currently spends most of his time as a director, shareholder in global education consultancy Spark Global Education. In his keynote presentation he will discuss his career which involved starting in enterprise aged only 12.
Jamie started by selling unwanted items at school aged 12, by 15 he was making around £500 per week from five market stalls across Birmingham. At the age of 16 Jamie left school with few qualifications but won a place on the Peter Jones Pathfinder course as one of 28 from nationwide applicants and moved to Buckinghamshire for six months.
When he was 18 he co-founded a printing organisation that later acquired high profile clients such as Aston Villa, Ikea and Asda. Since successfully exiting this business, Jamie has worked with governments around the world, most notably Malaysia, and educational organisations, developing youth entrepreneurship eco-systems.
Jamie also co-founded a multi-million pound investment fund which provides mentoring, office space, finance and support to young people in the West Midlands that are setting up in business.
As an investor, Jamie has equity interests in different sectors ranging from Recruitment to Technology. Jamie also sits on, and advises many different boards and trusts including the BMET Enterprise Academy, Arrive Alive, TechMinsk and Arden Forest FC.
Jamie has spoken at events world-wide and on stage with figures such as Peter Jones CBE, The President of Estonia and The US Secretary of State. He co-founded a substantial youth investment fund and is now recognised as one of the Top 20 Young People in the World, an award previously won by John F Kennedy.
