Hulme Hall restored to former glory by Harewood Associates
A Grade II* listed moated property in Allostock, Cheshire, has been restored to its former glory after a refurbishment costing more than £1m by Harewood Associates.
Hulme Hall, which dates back to the 15th century and was the historic country seat of the prominent Cheshire Grosvenor and Shakerley families, has undergone a major restoration by the Bolton-based property investment company over the last 15 months.
Set in three acres of land, the seven-bedroom house now features a five-car garage and separate annexe, a grand hall furnished with original timbers and four reception rooms. The house is also situated on a small island site, complete with a historic moat and the original Grade II* listed bridge – now a scheduled ancient monument serving as a unique garden feature.
Peter Kiely, Director of Harewood Associates, said: “This has been one of the most exciting projects we’ve worked on so far, and it’s been a privilege to give this unique historic building a news lease of life.
“Working alongside English Heritage, the Archaeological Society and the conservation and planning offices, we’ve ensured that the restoration is sympathetic to the historical significance of the property, whilst merging 21st century elements to enhance and modernise the structure.”
The historic property has been put on the market for £2.5m and would-be buyers should contact Harewood Associates on 01204 382640.
