Patrick Parsons Celebrates 50 years in Business

Multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm, Patrick Parsons, has celebrated its 50th anniversary by hosting a VIP event and setting out its plans for further growth.

The anniversary celebration saw Patrick Parsons welcome more than 150 clients and business contacts to Newcastle’s Fat Buddha Asian Bar and Kitchen. The evening included speeches by managing director Peter Stienlet and Tim Parsons, son of the company’s late founder Patrick Parsons, which reflected on the last 50 years and looked towards the next phase of the firm’s expansion.

Established in 1964, the company quickly built up a strong reputation for engineering in the North East. Following a management buyout in 2007, it has enjoyed substantial growth and now has a national network of offices providing services including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical (M&E) and geoenvironmental for a diverse client base.

With the company’s headquarters in Newcastle and offices in London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Huddersfield, Chester and Dubai, Patrick Parsons’ expansion has been a result of both acquisitions and organic growth over the last 50 years. The firm now has plans to expand into Europe with a number of joint venture agreements already in place.

Peter Stienlet, managing director of Patrick Parsons, commented: “We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our 50th anniversary with so many people, and we were honoured to have Tim Parsons and his sisters Helen Coates and Caroline Blades attend. The Parsons family has kept in touch over the years and we have always been grateful for their support.

“We have been expanding rapidly in recent years in terms of our client base, disciplines and geographical reach. We have seen a three-fold increase in our M&E team with several major appointments this year, and our growing geoenvironmental team is set to double in size in the near future.”

Peter cites the close working relationships the firm has with its clients as a key reason for its success. He continued: “Clients are increasingly looking for added value on top of the standard service. We work closely with them to understand their business goals and then use our network of contacts to help them wherever we can.

“I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved so far but we are only part way along a much bigger growth strategy. Our willingness to diversify and adapt to change drives the business forward and, with a major announcement and another world first in white water courses expected soon, our growth is set to continue.”
