Portland Consulting Engineers welcomes new staff

Leading Civil and Structural Engineering firm Portland Consulting Engineers has welcomed three new members of staff to its fast-growing Gateshead office. David Scrimgeour, Andrew Coyle and Amy Goldspink have joined the firm, bringing with them new talent and a wealth of experience.

David Scrimgeour a Senior Project Technician is returning to Portland after seven years. David has worked for various engineering consultancies in the North East as a Project Technician and has successfully worked on some of the region’s biggest engineering projects in recent years, including the new Tyne Tunnel, Eldon Square and the Metro Centre.

Most recently David has been working in Kent on the construction of the Isle of Grain Power Station. David said: “I am thrilled to be working once again for Portland. It is great to be returning to a place where I have such great memories and to be back working with such a great team.”

Andrew Coyle joins the firm as a Graduate Engineer with more than seven years experience, working on schemes, such as the UK’s largest Zero Carbon Village in Peterborough, the conversion of the Old Orphanage, in Hendon into an extra care scheme and The Village at The Viaduct - new student accommodation in Durham. Andrew, who joins the practice from a local consultancy is delighted with the opportunity he faces at Portland. Andrew said: “This is an extremely progressive company with an awareness of the need for new talent, so it’s a great move for me and I am really looking forward to working with the team.”

Amy Goldspink joins the team as Receptionist/Administrator and will be the first-point of contact at Portland, providing full administration support. Amy has worked for numerous construction companies in the North East and Yorkshire and brings with her a vast knowledge of the industry’s administration protocols. Amy said: “It’s a very open and friendly company with a lot of exciting projects; I’m delighted to be here.”
