Making Enterprise Work With Remploy

Bellrock Business has taken an exciting opportunity to work with the UK’s leading provider of disability employment services, Remploy, in the form of an enterprise training programme for its staff.

The three day ‘Train the Trainer’ course provided deeper understanding of the value of a good business advisor with the aim to enable candidates to lend their full support to disabled clients wishing to set up their own business.

Remploy’s 24 delegates were selected for the training and they took part in a bespoke programme, written and delivered by Bellrock’s director David Jackson and associate Shaun Stuart. It included lesson plans, workshop presentation materials as well as supporting literature which ensured the Remploy team were ready to go on and equip their candidates with everything needed to become self-employed.

In the UK, self-employment is a popular option for disabled people. Of those in paid work, 26 per cent of disabled people are self-employed as their main job, compared to only 20 per cent of non-disabled people respectively. Unfortunately, many people are not familiar with the rules that can help disabled people into self-employed work. And with self-employment often the only option for some disabled people who may require flexible working patterns as a result of their impairment, the impact of support in this area can sometimes be underestimated.

Remploy expressed the need to provide its candidates with individual support that offers people more choice and control, in areas that interest them, through personalised support.

‘By challenging current trainer beliefs during the training, Bellrock has helped to further embed positivity and belief of self-employment as a real career option into the Remploy team which will hopefully be later passed on to Remploy candidates’ Said David.

Bellrock Business ensures that its enterprise training programmes are custom-built around the specific needs of its clients, whatever they may be.
