Building Futures East Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance team volunteer at Riverside Housing’s Walkergate Action Day

Last week our Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance team gave a helping hand to local Riverside Housing residents in Walker to support them to clean up their estate and make the area a nicer and safer place to live.

The team at Riverside Housing contacted Building Futures East to support this project on a volunteer basis to help tidy up the estate at Walker and show the local residents how to keep on top of their outdoor spaces. The staff from Riverside Housing helped our gardening team with the clearance of debris, litter and weeds from hard-standing areas such as paths, walkways, pavements and driveways to transform the estate.

The BFE team also provided a ‘Top Ten’ list of “Hints & Tips for the Garden” to help residents make their green spaces neater, keep them free from weeds and to help hedges, shrubs, plants, bushes, trees and flowers grow better.

Work such as this helps residents to see how keeping on top of weeding and litter on a frequent basis can make their local environment more attractive and we hope that today’s Action Day will be the start of something positive for the outdoor spaces of Walker.
