Revenues up 92% at Manchester clothing supplier after a year of heavy investment

Manchester clothing supplier Clothes2order is on track for a record year as it reaps the benefits of a major investment programme.

The company, which supplies customised clothing for uniforms, promotions and events, saw revenues leap 92% in the first six months of 2014 compared with the same period last year.

Clothes2order, which has seen its workforce double to 54 in the past 18 months, is the fastest growing division of Quayside Group and its strong performance means the group is now forecasting overall sales of £6.3 million for 2014, up from £4.4 million in 2013.

First-half growth for Clothes2order was especially strong in the restaurant sector, with year-on-year sales up 130%.

Managing director Michael Conway cited a series of innovations and service improvements over the past 18 months as key drivers for the stellar growth.

He said: “The introduction of one of the fastest turnaround times in the industry, with orders dispatched within 24 hours, plus the fact that we have no minimum order quantity, have been key differentiators for the business and have helped us increase our market share,” he said.

“Also, we have launched click-and-collect services from our Trafford Park headquarters, and we recently invested a six-figure sum in another state-of-the-art machine to further increase our capacity.

“At the same time, we have really seen the benefits of improvements to our e-commerce operations to make ordering easier, aligned with initiatives to enhance the overall customer experience.

“These factors have been instrumental in shaping an exceptional performance for Clothes2order, and we remain confident that we will continue to see significant strong growth.”
