CPP wins prestigious award in its anniversary year
Leading Sheffield-based property consultancy Commercial Property Partners (CPP) has been named the Industrial Agency Team of the Year at this year’s Yorkshire Property Industry Awards.
The awards, held at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, were attended by 500 of the region’s leading property professionals.
The judges commented: “The industrial market has been tough, but the lengthy shortlist from which CPP has emerged gives an indication of the activity and subsequent quality of the competition.
“The judges were complementary of the lettings of SIRFT to M&S, the LPP Sheffield to Great Bear and Magna 34 to London Metric. All three of these major deals were all individually recognised at the awards.”
CPP, which celebrates its first birthday this month, defeated stiff competition including CBRE, Gent Visick, Knight Frank and Colliers, who were all short-listed.
Roger Haworth, Partner at CPP, commented: “We were delighted to win this prestigious award, in only our first year as a consultancy. As the judges mentioned, we have been involved in three major deals in South Yorkshire, which have underlined the region’s emergence from the recession.
“It was this time last year that Toby Vernon and I set up Commercial Property Partners and we have hit the ground running, as we promised to do. It has been a tremendously busy and satisfying 12 months and it has been gratifying to put together some important deals in a challenging market.”
“To be recognised by our peers, and to beat some highly-rated industrial agency specialists, makes us very proud – and even more determined to build on our success during the next 12 months,” said Mr Haworth.
Roger Haworth and Toby Vernon left CBRE, where they were both senior directors, to found CPP because they felt there was a need for an independent and dynamic cross-sector agency in South Yorkshire.
Together, Vernon and Haworth have more than 30 years’ experience of working in the commercial property market in Yorkshire, the North Midlands and the North East. Before joining CBRE, they opened the northern office of M3 in May 2007 which was a specialist industrial and logistics agency practice. M3 was subsequently bought by CBRE.
Since CPP’s launch last September, the company has grown to a team of 6 to provide a one-stop service for its clients. Rob Darrington (office) and Ed Norris (industrial) have joined CPP as partners from the Sheffield office of Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), while property manager Lee Buchanan, formerly of Priority Sites, complete CPP’s line-up.
