David Wilson site manager wins top award for quality

THE site manager at a Houghton-le-Spring housing development has won a top award for his outstanding workmanship.

Graeme Simpson, who works for David Wilson Homes, was presented with a Seal of Excellence in this year’s Pride in the Job campaign to find the best-run building sites in Britain.

He is in charge at Elba Park near Houghton-le-Spring, where he heads a 30-strong construction team.

The Pride in the Job Awards, are the most sought-after accolades in the industry. They are organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) and recognise site managers who achieve the highest standards.

The NHBC carries out inspections to check all the key stages of building a home, before selecting the best-organised and best-quality developments.

The Seal of Excellence places Graeme in the top 130 site managers in the UK. It is his seventh Pride in the Job award.

Graeme, 48, who lives in Craghead, Stanley, said: “I’m delighted to receive this award, which is all down to a team effort from everyone on site.”

David Wilson Homes is part of the Barratt Group, where Graeme has worked for seven years.

Scott Lester, Construction Director for Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East, said: “We’re absolutely delighted for Graeme. He thoroughly deserves this award for the skills he brings to the job every day and his dedication to building the very best homes.

“Site managers play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes and our construction teams are among the best in the business.”
