Latest CESG Guidance Enables the use of Excitor G/on for Remote Working

The long-awaited guidance from CESG regarding access to government information by home and remote workers has been released today. This means that public sector organisations seeking a secure and affordable solution for home and remote working can now use Excitor G/On and cut costs by as much as 75%*.

What the Latest CESG Guidance Means for You

Rene Stockner, Excitor CEO, said “The two biggest blockers to government workers being effective from home, or remotely, are cost and the potential risk to security. Excitor G/On addresses them both at a stroke.”

“G/On has been used by N. American and European government departments for secure remote access since 2003. However in the UK, public sector organisations have been obliged to provide high end government supplied equipment and laptop builds which are expensive and time consuming to purchase and manage. “

“With today’s CESG guidance, government organisations can now deploy Excitor’s secure bootable USB tokens with home PCs to enable secure flexible home working to staff at a fraction of the cost. It removes another hurdle to the full implementation of this year’s EU Directive on Flexible Working in Government.”

What is G/on?

G/on is a secure remote access solution which provides highly secure access to RDP, Citrix or web applications via unmanaged PCs, without the need for a VPN.

Employees or contractors simply need to boot their own PC or laptop using the secure G/on USB token and then authenticate in order to access the specific applications stipulated by company policies. No data ever leaves the company network and unmanaged devices can now be used for secure access to Government information.

Reduced Risk

The G/on solution does not store any corporate data. It has built-in strong two-factor authentication and uses 256bit AES encrypted communication. Data can neither leave the corporate network nor be downloaded from or uploaded to local PCs or USB tokens.

Moreover with no need for corporate laptops the chance of putting sensitive data at risk through loss or theft is removed, along with the associated potential fine of up to £500,000 from the ICO.

Data is secured, employees are happy, and costs are dramatically reduced.
