Sunderland’s Elm EV partners with Porsche in hybrid vehicle project

The region’s leading electric vehicle charge point installer is now an official partner to the North East branch of the largest and one of the most desired sports car manufacturer.

Elm EV, based in Sunderland has joined forces with Porsche Centre Newcastle to offer a complete package for customers purchasing high end plug in hybrid vehicles. The charging point company is now Porsche Newcastle’s recommended partner of choice.

Elm EV, established in 2013, is the North East’s largest installer of electric vehicle charge points.

Catering for both the domestic and commercial market, they have installed over 1400 free home charge points to properties throughout the region.

Elm EV has installed charge points to a variety of businesses from hotels and restaurants through to business car parks. They boast clients such as Caterpillar UK and Your Homes Newcastle.

Daniel Martin, Sales Director at Elm EV said: “We are very proud to be in partnership with Porsche Centre Newcastle offering their customers the very best and most efficient charging solutions available. Their customers will now have the opportunity for charge points to be fitted either at home, at work or both if that’s what they choose.”

“Being a preferred installer of electric vehicle charge points to a company of such high calibre as that of Porsche is a real privilege and a great reflection of the proven capabilities of Elm EV as a company. We now have further plans to partner with other Porsche Centre’s across the country.”

Over the past year plug in vehicles at Porsche have generated a wealth of interest. At the Newcastle branch alone there has been a high uptake of the Panamera S E-Hybrid – a vehicle comprising sporty performance with extreme efficiency – with the option of powering the vehicle by either the combustion engine alone, the electric machine alone, or by both units working together.

Due to launch in October this year, the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid has already sold out at the Newcastle dealership.

And with top end manufacturers like Porsche continuously developing their electric vehicles, according to Porsche’s General Manager, Scott Stevenson, the constant improvement in technology is demonstrating that speed, design and performance no longer need to be compromised in an electric vehicle.

Scott added: “We strive to provide our customers with the very best service they rightly expect from Porsche. Having a professional and well established company like Elm EV will provide our customers with the best charging solutions on the market and an easy and swift transition to going electric.”

“We have been overwhelmed by the interest in Porsche’s plug in electric vehicles, which we believe firmly demonstrates our customers really are ready for an electric future.”
