The Scottish Shutter Company Wins Top Award -  Family Business Of The Year Scotland 2014

There were celebrations in Dundee as The Scottish Shutter Company brought home its eighth awards in a year, scooping two titles at the prestigious Family Business United Awards, including the big one - Family Business Of The Year Scotland 2014. The company were also runners up in The People’s Choice Award, which is voted for by the public, and they received their accolades at Farrers in London.

Speaking about the Company’s wins, partner, Judith D’Ambrosio said: “The whole family at The Scottish Shutter Company were delighted to receive this award. It is also very reassuring to know that we are getting it right with our customers with our People’s Choice award too! The competition was huge this year and we felt honoured to be surrounded at the ceremony by some very well-established businesses, one of which was started when King Henry VIII was on the throne!

“The judges noted from our awards submission that our family values shine through in all that we do and that our customer care is exceptional,” she continued. “The awards ceremony audience laughed when I told them how the next generation, our daughters Chloe and Olivia, at ages eight and five, are already hugely integrated into our family business, and are even involved in the second interview process when we bring in new talent. It was very clear to the judges that we do things differently at Scottish Shutters and that’s what sets us apart.”

The Scottish Shutter Company is Scotland’s largest independent family shutter business and has over 28 Years’ experience designing, supplying, and installing interior timber plantation shutters and other specialist window shading products, including motorised radio controlled blinds. The family business team comprises company founders David and June Browne (husband and wife), Judith D’Ambrosio (David & June’s daughter), David D’Ambrosio (Judith’s husband), Larah Birnie (family cousin). Backed by Stevie and Ben, two further team members, The Scottish Shutter Company supplies both domestic and commercial clients throughout Scotland and the North of England.
