The sums add up for new Yorkshire accountancy firm
A new Yorkshire accountancy firm specialising in working with start-ups, SMEs and ambitious entrepreneurs has secured 160 clients before officially launching its brand.
Turner Lister & Co, based in Wetherby and up to now trading as Polaris 3, will showcase its new brand at the Brand Yorkshire conference today at Pavilions in Harrogate.
The firm, run by Claire Turner and James Lister, has been operating since the summer but hasn’t so far actively sought new clients.
Despite this, 110 limited companies and more than 50 sole traders are already on the books.
Managing director and chartered tax advisor Claire Turner is delighted with how things are going. “We’ve just got off to the best start, and only on word of mouth. We are both shocked to be honest, but feel that the response we’ve had vindicates our decision to set up a firm which genuinely cares about its small clients.
“We are passionate about small businesses, start-ups and ambitious companies and make it our mission to get to know people so we can provide a wide range of advice. For us, it’s about knowing not just our clients’ businesses, but the client as well as that’s the best way to help them grow.”
Director and accountant James Lister agrees: “We really want our clients to feel they’re getting a personal service. That’s why when we launch the brand on Wednesday people will see that we not only use Turner Lister & Co, but also TLC, as we feel that’s what we offer. In fact, those visiting our stand at Brand Yorkshire will be offered some TLC on us in the form of hand massages.”
Both Claire and James were formerly at Leeds accountants WGN, Claire as a partner and James as an accountant, before leaving earlier in the year to set up a business together.
Based at Parkhill Business Centre in Wetherby, the pair have quickly grown the team and specialise not only in the personal touch, but in using technology to add value. In addition to traditional accountancy services the firm also offers bookkeeping and operates as an out-sourced finance department – a one stop shop that saves clients time and money.
