Bright start for Bradford pupils as the new academic year has them seeing gold

Pupils from a Bradford school have crowned their diamond jubilee celebrations by starting the new academic year in the new school colour – gold.

Thanks to a grant from Leo Group’s Community Fund, all pupils at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, Bradford Road, Clayton, have been given a new school uniform. All 256 pupils and some staff were given a specially-designed commemorative polo shirt to start the new term.

Leo Group, which operates the Omega Proteins factory in Thornton, awarded the school £1,500 from its Community Fund, which supports local charities and grassroots organisations across Bradford and Calderdale. The Group, which employs more than 430 people across its 10 operational sites in the UK, is at the forefront of the recycling and green energy sectors.

The school’s Family Liaison Officer, Sharon Langford, said the new uniform has crowned the 60th anniversary celebrations. She said: “We’re delighted with how the 60th anniversary polo shirts have turned out. The new school colour looks great and we’ve had very positive feedback from parents.“

“2014 has been a very special year for the school and the new uniform has helped mark the 60th anniversary celebrations. We’re very grateful for all the support we have received from the local community to help celebrate this milestone with us.“

Leo Group supports local charities and grassroots organisations across Bradford and Calderdale through its Community Fund. In the past two years Leo Group’s charitable donations have exceeded £250,000, the Community Fund is just one aspect of the Group’s community work.

Melanie Rosser, Leo Group’s PR and Communication Manager, said: “Since opening its doors in 1954, St Anthony’s has been at the heart of the local community. We’re thrilled to have been able to help the school celebrate its 60 year milestone. I think everyone would agree that the new uniform looks great!“
