Liverpool pharmacy apprentice wins regional award
A Liverpool pharmacy apprentice has won a regional award for his work with Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.
City of Liverpool College apprentice Brett Finch won the “Best Academic” category of the Health Education North West Pharmacy Technician Awards, in recognition of his work as a Pharmacy Technician.
Bernie Davies, his line manager at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital said: “ Brett has gone above and beyond what has been expected of him as a student. He is really mature for his age and he works at a standard and speed that experienced qualified technicians would find hard to match. It is hard to believe that he is still a student technician and I would expect Brett to progress to a high level in his career as a technician. His desire to help his colleagues and learn from both the workplace and college is outstanding and I have never seen this in any other student during the 28 years I have been a pharmacy technician.“
Health Education North West is the Education and Training Board (LETB) for the North West of England, covering Cheshire, Merseyside, Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. The awards celebrate and promote learning and identify staff and volunteers working across the health and social care sector, who have been transformed by learning and are an inspiration to others.
Elaine Bowker, Principal of the City of Liverpool College said: “Congratulations to Brett who really deserves this award. He isn’t only an inspiration to other students he also shows the value an apprentice can bring to any organisation.”
