Next round of Leo Group community funding launched

The next round of grants to support grassroots organisations across Bradford and Calderdale launches on 1 October 2014.

Leo Group Ltd, a green energy and recycling specialist based in Halifax, is inviting applications from voluntary organisations and good causes working with children and young people to share in thousands of pounds of grants.

From Wednesday 1 October until the deadline of Friday 27 February 2015, the company is seeking submissions from across the community for its next round of grants. The Community Fund is particularly keen to hear from good causes involved in sporting activities, educational projects, cultural and environmental initiatives, as well as schemes that aim to banish isolation.

Leo Group employs over 420 people across 10 sites in the UK, including Omega Proteins in Denholme, Bradford.

Since the initiative was launched in 2011, Leo Group’s Community Fund has awarded much-needed project funding to 15 local organisations. Successful bids for up to £2,500 cash include those from Home-Start Calderdale and Chellow Heights Special School in Bradford.

Leo Group PR and Communications Manager, Melanie Rosser, said: “As a major employer in the area, we are committed to supporting the local community. Our Community Fund gives us a platform to provide local good causes with the funding they need.”

“We received three times as many applicants in 2014 compared to the previous round of grants. The response shows there is no shortage of excellent work being carried out by charities and grassroots organisations across the area and there is high demand for financial support.”

Melanie can be contacted via e-mail at melanie.rosser@leogroupltd.co.uk for an application form and guidelines for making a submission.

The Community Fund forms a key strand of the company’s wider programme of charitable donations, which in the last two years has handed out a record amount of money to good causes in every corner of the community – some £250,000.
