Volunteers See The Benefits of Their Day at Daisy Chain

Analox Ltd has once again sent a team of staff out of the office to get their hands dirty for Daisy Chain.

Five staff from across the Analox Group of companies left their desks behind to spend eight hours clearing paddocks ready for new arrivals, and building fences at Daisy Chain, which is based at Calf Fallow Farm in Norton.

Daisy Chain is a charity which provides a wide range of services and support for children with autism, and their families, with the aim of meeting the individual needs of each family member, and bringing them all closer together as a unit. Launched in 2003, Daisy Chain is based on a 5.5 acre farm in Norton, with facilities including a Day Centre, Farm, Sensory Gardens, Vegetable Garden and Wetland area.

For James Speke, Sales Executive with Analox Military Systems, it was his first charity day with Analox since joining the company in October 2013. He chose to give his time to Daisy Chain as he has animals at home, including horses, chickens and geese.

He said: “For me, it was important to be able to volunteer at a project which understands the importance of animals, and the joy that they can bring to people. However, the highlight of my day there was seeing the enjoyment of the children using the facilities, and working with the animals.

“It was great fun to muck in with colleagues, and get on with whatever Daisy Chain needed us to do. I think all of us from Analox enjoyed making a little bit of a difference for this wonderful charity. Personally, I’ll be eager to sign up to help a charity for a day next year too.”

Justine Johnson, Corporate Partnership Manager, from Daisy Chain, added: “We rely completely on the generosity of organisations and individuals across the Tees Valley, as we receive no formal funding. With a 5.5 acre farm to maintain we simply couldn’t do it without teams from companies like Analox Ltd. We are hugely grateful for their support and hope to see them again soon on site!”

Analox Ltd is based in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, and specialises in the design and manufacture of gas analysers for military and commercial use. Analox encourages staff to give one day each year to a local charity. The charity days are organised to bring together staff from various departments who would not normally work closely in their respective jobs, so benefiting workplace rapport at the same time as helping the charity.
