Knottingley's Caddick Construction starts on £7 million Regatta Group head office
Steel is being delivered for Knottingley-based Caddick Construction’s £7 million conversion project at Regatta Group head office.
More than 11 tonnes of steel has been designed and is being transported to the site at Trafford Park, which is home to brands Regatta, Dare2b, Craghoppers and Hawkshead.
An intensive one-week programme has now commenced to construct the steel framework of the new entrance of the head office.
Steve Pitts, project manager at Caddick Construction, commented: “The project is well under way with the delivery of the steel frames; this is a crucial and monumental stage of the build.
“We have 55 tonnes of rolled purlins and rails bolted together with 500 bolts which will be used during the week long steel construction programme.
“It’s great to see the steelwork going up, the development coming out of the ground and new entrance taking shape. We have been able to get a lot of the ground works done during the relatively good weather and hopefully this will continue!”
Caddick Construction was awarded the £7 million construction contract, based on previous experience of working on bespoke and complex projects.
The project involves converting Regatta’s existing industrial warehouse in Urmston into a corporate Head Office facility, with completion expected by March 2015.
Architects Fletcher Rae UK, with Space Invader Interior Designers, has led the design development process for this innovative building solution.
Bob Fletcher, managing director of Fletcher Rae, said: “It was very important that the design for the Regatta building reflected the company’s ethos – it needed to be an open, welcoming area that is fit for a modern company.
“The open timber cladding to the canopy provides a view of the steel truss behind, which is vital as it enables the structure to overhang and provide a prominent focal point to the entrance as it peels away from the main building.
“The glazed facade to the entrance also allows visitors to see through to the existing steel truss structure within – part of the exciting new interior concept.
“This relates back to the overall internal concept, which offers a new vibrant and exciting office environment while expresses the building’s structure and industrial history.”
Keith Black, chief executive, Regatta Group said: “Today marks a great milestone in the project, it’s really great to see the investment taking shape.
“When our redevelopment is completed each of our international brands - Regatta, Craghoppers, Dare2b and Hawkskead will come together under one roof, something we’re all very much looking forward to.”
