Housing developer Wates expands in Hull with new office and £5 million development
Affordable housing developer Wates Living Space is expanding its presence in Hull with the opening of its first office in the city, coinciding with a £5 million housing development in the area.
The contractor has moved into offices at Priory Park West in Hessle and initially six employees will operate out of its office.
Wates is currently working alongside Hull City Council and housing association Riverside to deliver a £5 million development of 16 one bedroom flats and 36 two and three bedroom houses in the Orchard Park area of Hull.
The contractor is also preferred bidder for a development of 300 extra care apartments and is a shortlisted bidder for a major maintenance programme with Hull City Council to improve the energy efficiency of Council-owned houses across the city.
Joanne Jamieson, regional managing director of Wates Living Space, commented: “We invest heavily in the communities in which we build, so it made good business-sense to establish a dedicated base in Hull and is a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the city.
“Presently there is a significant shortfall of quality affordable houses in Hull and Wates is pleased to be helping the council to address this issue.”
