Rockliffe Hall offers ‘Meets and Treats’ to celebrate National Spa Week in aid of Macmillan Cancer

The North East’s 5* spa is celebrating National Spa Week, which runs from 3rd-7th November , by encouraging people who may not have ever considered visiting a spa to give it a go- and raise money for a national cancer charity in the process.

Rockliffe Hall, in Hurworth near Darlington, is holding a range of special, limited availability events to give people the chance to ‘meet and treat’ as well as raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mini-treatments will be offered poolside in the spa as well as in the Boutique, for a suggested, small donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. These will include head and foot massages, hand and arm massages and cuticle and nail treatments. Seasonal cakes and cookies will also contribute to the fundraising.

In addition, two limited availability spa days will be on offer for the duration of National Spa Week: -

‘Meet and Treat’ is a sharing spa day for two friends to relax and enjoy Rockliffe Hall’s spa facilities, a choice of a 45 minute treatment each and lunch in the Spa Brasserie.

‘Penny for the Guy’ is a fun, Guy Fawkes-themed twilight spa for couples and includes a sharing platter and two small plates in the Spa Brasserie, a glass of wine or a smoothie each, full use of spa facilities until 9pm and mini treatments, some especially designed for men.

Rockliffe Hall also has specially-trained therapists on hand to ensure all treatments and facilities are suitable for those affected by cancer.

National Spa Week, now in its 10th year, is organised by the UK Spa Association, a not-for-profit organisation that supports the UK spa industry. The aim of the dedicated week is to raise awareness about spa use and to highlight some of the many health benefits for a variety of people of all ages, whether male or female.

Spa director at Rockliffe Hall, Liz Holmes, said: “Latest research by the UK Spa Association reveals that less than 8% of people have used a UK spa and are unaware of the health benefits. We hope that- by organising a range of unusual events and ‘treats’- we can dispel some of the myths about spas and offer something different that can be of a lasting benefit to health and well-being.”

Rockliffe Hall was this year (July 2014) named in the top five of the UK’s most luxurious spas by the Good Spa Guide which introduced a new category of ‘5 Bubble Luxury’ with just five UK spas nominated.

In addition, in September (2014), the resort was named in the Sunday Times top 10 spa hotels in Britain, while last year, the spa was named in its Top 20 in Europe.

The Meet and Treat spa day costs £170 for two people. Penny for the Guy is £90 per couple. Both of the spa days can be upgraded to an overnight stay for £145 per room, including breakfast.
