New chair to lead Weaver Valley Partnership

Businesswoman and former journalist Nicola Dufty has been appointed as the new chairman of the Weaver Valley Partnership Board.

Ms Dufty, who has enjoyed a successful career in journalism and latterly running her own PR and marketing business Profile Communication, will lead the partnership in its aim to create a prosperous future for the Weaver Valley region.

The Weaver Valley towns encompass Northwich, Middlewich and Winsford which have a long track record in contributing to Cheshire’s economic success.

They are currently at the heart of an ambitious regeneration strategy which includes a number of significant projects such as the multi-million pound Baron’s Quay development in Northwich.

Nicola Dufty said: “This is a very exciting time for the Weaver Valley towns.

“The investment that is happening will bring new opportunities over the coming months and the Board will be working hard to make the most of these – focusing on ways to support local businesses and attract more companies to invest.

“Weaver Valley has a lot to offer – with diverse businesses, attractive facilities for offices and manufacturing, excellent transport links, a first-class skills base and the added bonus of being set in some of the UK’s most stunning countryside.

“We already have some fantastic company success stories in the Weaver Valley, a great business support network and are looking forward to getting our message out there to future investors about what our unique area has to offer.”

Cheshire West and Chester Council led the formation of the Weaver Valley Partnership Board to oversee investment in the area with the aim of improving employment, the environment and people’s quality of life.
