Consett's Tanfield Foods acquired by Leeds food manufacturer

North East-based Tanfield Foods has been acquired by branded convenience food manufacturer Symington’s Ltd.

The deal brings together two major suppliers in the UK ambient convenience food sector and is reportedly a major boost to creating value and investment into the category.

Headquartered in Consett, Tanfield Foods has built up an enviable reputation for the development high quality innovative meals and specialist nutrition.

The portfolio contains the ‘Look What We Found’ brand, the Ilumi free from brand and a range of Own label products for the major uk retailers.

The acquisition further strengthens Symington’s position in the ambient convenience food category and is a perfect complement to its existing portfolio of brands which includes Mugshot, Ragu, Chicken Tonight and Ainsley Harriott.

The business plan seeks to make Tanfield the centre of excellence in the Symington’s group for ambient wet products, and leverage the Symington’s brand portfolio and sales and marketing skills to further develop and grow the Tanfield business.
