Children’s hospice celebrates ‘vantastic’ donation
A North West children’s hospice has invested in a new minivan to give youngsters better access to local events and activities.
Claire House Children’s Hospice, based in Bebington, received a £5,000 donation as part of the MBNA Adopted Charities Programme and put the money towards a new minibus for children and young people receiving respite, palliative and end-of-life care at the hospice.
The minivan was specifically adapted to transport children comfortably from the hospice to events and outings in the local area, helping them socialise with children of a similar age and improving their quality of life.
Ruth Fleming, from MBNA’s Channel and Marketing department and a volunteer at the hospice, said: “We’re really pleased that we could help towards the cost of the new minibus. The bus looks absolutely fantastic and we hope it gives the children and their families more freedom to enjoy events in the area.
“We’ll be continuing to raise money for the charity to make sure it can continue providing care and support to children across the region”
The donation to Claire House Children’s Hospice is part of a £100,000 investment by the MBNA Foundation to support the work of charities across the North West and North Wales.
Siân Marland, Play Specialist at Claire House, added: “On behalf of Claire House Children’s Hospice I’d like to thank MBNA for their support. The minibus lets us transport young people to and from their homes and improves our access so that we can provide personal care from home.
“An activity as simple as going out to the cinema or for a meal is difficult for two friends who are both in wheelchairs, so the new minibus will make a huge difference and has already proved to be very popular with the children!”
