Vernacare shortlisted for prestigious international trade awards

Infection prevention products manufacturer Vernacare has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards - in recognition of outstanding success in international trade.

Vernacare is a finalist in the ‘Excellence in International Trade Award’ and ‘International Company of the Year (£25m to £50m turnover) Award’ categories in the Insider North West International Trade Awards 2014.

The Bolton based manufacturer invented the ‘Vernacare System’ of hygienic patient toileting and washing 50 years ago. The company manufactures single-use bedpans, urinals, wash bowls and other containers from renewable natural fibre, which are disposed of in Vernacare’s Vortex disposal machines. This improves standards of patient safety and care - reducing the risk of infection, reducing cost, saving nurses’ time and boosting environmental performance.

A commitment to innovation has allowed Vernacare to compete internationally, now exporting to 48 countries worldwide. The global market has proved receptive to the environmentally conscious Vernacare System, due to the infection prevention and nursing time benefits it offers.

Vernacare’s Global Marketing Director Emma Sheldon said: “We are delighted to be selected as finalists - in recognition of our successful trading relationship with healthcare providers right around the globe. We have successfully cultivated long-term partnerships in Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand, as well as new trading relationships in growing markets, like Singapore, where we have gained a 30% market share in a short period of time.

“Going forward we are confident that our new international strategy and focused, systemised approach will ensure that we can maintain the highest standards as export volumes increase.” The awards show will be held on 4 December at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester.
