Work begins on £39 million Sutton office development that will create 780 jobs
Galliford Try has been appointed as main contractor of a £39 million office development Sutton after the sale of a Brighton Road site was agreed by Sutton Council.
Developer Subsea 7 is overseeing the development of a new project office for the 1.36 acre site which will house up to 780 jobs in the south London borough.
Construction is now beginning on the new offices which are planned for completion by late summer 2016.
Subsea 7 is one of the world’s leading global contractors in seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services to the offshore oil and gas industry.
Subsea 7′s commitment to the borough was secured as a result of Sutton Council’s inward investment arm called Opportunity Sutton.
The body is promoting sites for development in the borough and has attracted £322m of planned investment since it started almost two years ago.
Dave Williams, vice president for Subsea 7 London office said: “We are pleased to appoint Galliford Try as our contractor for this work. We are now keen to progress the construction of our new office and look forward to completing transfer of title for the site in the next few weeks.
“Through our ongoing consultation with the local community, we continue to work hard to create an exciting and sensitively designed building, which has the support of the local community and residents.”
