Furniture auction to raise funds for children's charity

A Salisbury housebuilder is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for a children’s charity by holding a furniture auction.

Charles Church Wessex will hold the auction on Saturday 8th November at its Royal Gardens showhome in a bid to raise vital funds for The Rainbow Trust for Children.

The Rainbow Trust provides emotional and practical support that is individually tailored to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Lorraine Rudge, the Rainbow Trust’s community fundraising manager, said: “The charity relies on fundraising for almost all of its income, so events like this are essential in providing vital support to families when they need it most. Our family support workers support around 150 families in the Wiltshire area and this support will make a real difference to their lives.

“We urge as many people as possible to go along and in doing so help us continue to offer our essential support to families facing the most unimaginable circumstances, their child having a life-threatening or terminal illness.”

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Charles Church Wessex, added: “We are thrilled we can hold an event to raise money for a service that directly benefits and helps people in the area.

“The auction is an excellent opportunity for people to pick up some lovely furniture pieces and with Christmas fast approaching it’s a good way of giving something back to the community and getting those last minute Christmas presents.”

The auction starts at 11.00am on Saturday 8th November at Royal Gardens, Sherbourne Drive, Old Sarum, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP4 6BY. Sealed bids will be taken on the larger furniture items with smaller decorative items priced up and available on a first come first served basis.
