New members appointed to Grŵp Cynefin board

Housing association Grwp Cynefin has appointed three new members to its Board of Management.

New members Dafydd Lewis, Carys Edwards and Julia Hughes bring a wealth of experience in housing, social care and management at a senior level to the voluntary posts.

Dolgellau resident Dafydd is the former corporate director with responsibility for housing and social care at Gwynedd Council.

Carys, from Parc, Bala, is the former head of adult services at Isle of Anglesey County Council.

Julia Hughes, from Llangwyfan near Denbigh, was formerly the director of adult and community learning at Coleg Llandrillo.

The Board members have spent the last month visiting Grwp Cynefin properties and projects to find out more about the housing association’s work within communities across North Wales.

John Arthur Jones, chairman of Grwp Cynefin, said: “Good governance is absolutely vital to the ongoing development and success of our operations, and Dafydd, Carys and Julia are valuable additions to our Board of Management.

“The board is responsible for directing Grwp Cynefin’s projects across North Wales, and the experience and skills all three possess will have a significant contribution to the association’s portfolio of property and community initiatives.”

Grwp Cynefin provides more than 3,700 rented homes and 700 affordable properties to people across North Wales.

Alongside its housing portfolio, Grwp Cynefin is also responsible for a number of community projects across North Wales, including Canllaw Cyf, Cywaith Cyf, and domestic abuse support service Gorwel.

Grwp Cynefin chief executive Walis George said: “Everyone at Grwp Cynefin welcomes Julia, Dafydd and Carys to the Board of Management .
