Newcastle’s CMR UK strikes (IIP) gold
A Newcastle-based manufacturer of industrial engine controls has been awarded Investors In People Gold Standard for its long-standing commitment to staff development and training.
The top IIP award - achieved by only 3.7% of UK organisations and seen as an accomplishment of world-class best practice - has been achieved by CMR UK following staff investment and the introduction of a performance review system to improve quality and customer service levels.
The IIP assessment highlighted the company’s excellent practices in people management, leadership, staff involvement and other areas. It also involved interviews with around a third of the workforce to gain views on the company, its leadership and management and its investment in developing people.
And to mark its success, a special fund raising day saw employees turn up for work in gold themed fancy dress clothing to raise £430, which was match funded by CMR to make a donation of £860 to the RNLI.
Finance director Maureen Jamieson said: “This is fantastic news and we are all delighted. The Gold award puts us in a distinguished group of the very best employers. I would like to thank all staff for their on-going effort and commitment to CMR.”
The Investors in People Gold award provides a framework that helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of the staff.
