Chantrey Vellacott fundraising efforts receive an international boost
The fundraising efforts of a national accountancy firm have been boosted by its industry association.
Chantrey Vellacott has received a £500 charitable donation from DFK UK & Ireland, the UK and Ireland arm of worldwide accountancy association DFK International.
The pledge will go to Edward’s Trust, Chantrey Vellacott’s chosen charity for the firm’s 13-strong team which took part in the Great Birmingham Run.
Chantrey Vellacott’s team – made up of staff from its offices in Birmingham, Northampton and Leicester – raised a total of £2,000 for the charity which supports children and families with serious illness and bereavement.
The £500 donation is one of four to be made by DFK UK & Ireland after the association decided at its annual conference to grant £2,000 a year to charitable organisations being supported by its members.
Suk Aulak, partner at Chantrey Vellacott and chairman of DFK UK & Ireland, who took part in the run, said: “Our member firms tend to be very active fundraisers and so we have decided to support their efforts by setting aside £2,000 for charitable donations each year.
“We got the initiative off to a flying start at the conference with delegates lining up for an ice bucket challenge chain reaction which was great fun.”
Delegates took time out from the conference in Liverpool to line-up for the challenge with a succession of containers filled with ice-cold water being tipped over one after another.
The efforts resulted in DFK UK & Ireland making a £500 donation to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, the main British recipient of the global fundraising phenomenon.
Vita, an Irish international development agency helping to build sustainable livelihoods in Africa, and CALM, which seeks to prevent male suicide in the UK, are the other charities to each receive £500 from DFK UK & Ireland this year.
Suk added: “All four charities are incredibly worthwhile causes and we are delighted to be able to support our members in backing them.
“As the UK and Ireland arm of DFK International, many of our members will also be taking part in this year’s Movember campaign.
“In recent years, DFK International has raised in excess of £100,000 for men’s health charities during the moustache-wearing month of November.”
