Fundraising success for NE car dealership as Children in Need approaches
Managers at a leading North East car dealership have praised staff for raising thousands of pounds for local good causes as they prepare for another major fundraiser.
Simon Bailes Peugeot’s three dealerships across Teesside and in North Yorkshire have raised over £5000 for local charities by supporting various events throughout this year.
Next week (Friday 14th November), staff will again be taking part in the BBC’s Children in Need appeal as they dress up as superheroes for the day and donate an hour’s wages. In addition, they will also take part in a range of Peugeot challenges- from washing cars, sporting activities and cake bakes- and sell official Children in Need merchandise as the company is an official partner.
During its partnership with the charity over the last two years, Peugeot and its dealer network have raised over £750,000 and are hoping this year to reach the £1 million milestone.
As well as Children in Need, recently the Simon Bailes Peugeot team handed over a cheque to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Middlesbrough for £800, which they raised by donating an hour’s wage. Zoe’s Place provides care and respite for babies and infants aged from birth to five years old who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and is the only baby specific hospice in the UK offering palliative and end of life care free of charge as well as ongoing support to families.
The car dealership has also been a sponsor of the Boundary 500 motorcycle group for several years, supporting events such as the Santa Ride, which takes place on Teesside every Christmas.
Rachael Willmore, from Zoe’s Place in Middlesbrough, said: “‘On behalf of everyone at Zoe’s Place, I would like to thank all of the staff at Simon Bailes Peugeot for their very generous donations. The cash raised will be used to provide much needed respite care for the babies that stay with us and will make such a big difference to our families who access the facilities here at the hospice. It’s good to know that in difficult times we have such good friends in our community that care a great deal about Zoe’s Place.”
Speaking about the fundraising, Simon Bailes said: “As a business we are passionate about being at the heart of our local communities. Fundraising plays a major part in that and we try to get involved in a range of events throughout the year, not least the Peugeot Children in Need activities.”
Members of the public can join in the fundraising for Children in Need at any of Simon Bailes’ dealership in Northallerton, Stockton-on-Tees and Guisborough.
