Leeds brewing supplier Microdat bought by Chinese manufacturer

Leeds brewery supplier Microdat has been acquired by Chinese manufacturer of brewing and packaging equipment, Lehui., after going into administration.

Lehui supplies well known brands such as Pepsi-Cola, Heineken, Carlsberg, SABMiller and San Miguel.

Microdat are a supplier of brewery solutions, with 25 years experience in the brewing industry. The firm went into administration in June and BDO were appointed as administrators to the firm.

Unfortunately no jobs were saved by the acquisition, all production has been moved to Lehui’s production facilities in China.

They have purchased the IP and the assets of Microdat, but the former company Microdat Ltd. remains in the hands of the administrators.

Former founders of Microdat, Steve Midgley and David Midgley have formed a new company Brew Associates.

They have signed a co-operation agreement with Lehui ensuring Lehui gain valuable knowledge from the Midgley’s and in turn the Midgley’s will be the UK agents for all of the Lehui brands and products.

Microdat supplies names such as AB-InBev, Molson Coors, C&C, as well as a large number of small and medium sized craft breweries.

Following the acquisition of Microdat, Lehui moved the production of all kegging and cask equipment to its Nanjing factory in China.

Lehui will continue to provide customers who purchase Microdat machines with the same UK technology and high-quality at a competitive price with a UK based after sales service team.

Lehui aim to build Microdat as one of the biggest kegging line manufacturers in the world supported by Lehui’s strong production ability.
