LAW continue winning ways

Employment law and health & safety consultancy Law At Work (LAW) Ltd has again posted a positive financial year-end performance.

The business, which has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, has grown by 12 per cent to achieve a turnover of £2million in the financial year 2013/14. Pre-tax profit in the same period also increased by 58 per cent. The sustained growth, in the second year following the successful MBO, has been achieved through the attraction of more clients across the UK and the continued development of the services offered.

Jane Wright, Chief Executive of LAW attributes the steady growth to the firm’s commitment to client care. She explains:

“Client care is at the heart of everything we do. We deliver the high quality service expected from a leading law firm or technical health & safety consultancy however we recognise that many of our clients have different needs. We therefore work hard to provide a flexible and bespoke service for each of them.

“Clients tell us that our all-inclusive pricing with no hidden extras is refreshing and we believe this, combined with an approachable top quality team, has led to us attracting a number of high profile clients away from traditional law firms or health & safety providers. We were very proud to be recognised as a finalist for the Customer Service category in the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Awards last month which is a reflection of our focus in this area.”

Building on the success of the last two years, LAW has continued to expand, in both its staff numbers and service offering, including growing its health and safety division to incorporate a number of new specialist services including fire and construction which enables them to offer support to higher risk and more complex businesses

Jane continues:

“The growth in the services we offer for both health & safety and the recent addition of HR consultancy services means that for many clients, we can be a ‘one-stop shop’ for all of their employment law, HR and health & safety needs. In the last year, we have found that word is spreading fast about our approach. We have also secured a number of significant client wins in London and in the North of England”

“While the market remains competitive and challenging, we are confident that we will continue to be successful. In the most recent year we managed our operating cost-base to invest in client facing roles. In the coming year we will continue to invest in people but also will actively reinvest profit back into the business to ensure we are fit for the future. We will prioritise all investment that benefits clients such as IT initiatives to enhance our client care and simplify our processes as well as investing in new premises in Edinburgh following client growth.”

Chairman Magnus Swanson added:

“We know that we are an attractive proposition to businesses that want to forward-plan expenditure, while retaining an excellent level of service. We provide that by investing in highly trained and qualified staff, superior service levels, and professionalism.

LAW’s team of 27 service over 250 retained clients across the UK. LAW is beginning to increasingly work with larger organisations, both on a retained and consultancy basis. The team enjoy enviable client retention rates and still work with their first client from 2001 - Connect Communications.
