Yorkshire & Humber SME ‘hotbed’ to benefit from PwC sponsored investment fund
Yorkshire & the Humber SME’s are set to benefit from Seedcamp, an investment fund that supports startups from the pre-seed and seed capital stage.
PwC has become a sponsor of Seedcamp and a new cloud-based accounting service for SMEs, My Financepartner, for this September’s Seedcamp intake.
PwC recently launched My Financepartner, which is designed specifically for SMEs, to offer them professional support and financial insight and has also joined forces with two innovative and Funding Circle and Market Invoice in an attempt to move into alternative finance.
Gemma Clark, PwC’s Yorkshire private business leader said: “Yorkshire is a hotbed of SMEs with over 353,000 in the region, and they are a key part of our client base.
“It is our core objective to therefore help them get to the next level of business growth, but there is still a common misconception that traditional financing routes are the only ones open to them.
“As a result, many are unaware of the wide range of alternative finance options available.
“Businesses are demanding new, flexible and faster options for funding, and our arrangements with innovative companies like Funding Circle and MarketInvoice will help us to get businesses leaders the information and services they need to grow, fast.”
Reshma Sohoni, partner and co-founder of Seedcamp, said: “Good financial management and reporting is essential to later funding rounds, even for the most promising of companies.
“We are proud to announce our Autumn cohort of Seedcamp companies, and excited to see the launch of My Financepartner which really has the startup stage in mind. It’s a great step by PwC to create a targeted offering and we’re pleased to welcome them as partners.”
